After
our site visit at the Springfield brewery, the BIM postgraduate urban modelling
group had further discussion regarding the finalisation of our aim and
objectives. In order to effectively achieve our aim towards the urban heritage
development for the Springfield brewery, our following objective was to gather additional
research collectively from postgraduates
and undergraduates to enhance the 3D model design, level of information as well as level of
details of the brewery from previous years.
Few
of the information found towards the Brewery were;
Heritage photos of the
Springfield;
this have been very helpful towards coordinating and identifying heritable
areas of the building as well as how the culture of the working environment
operated.
Springfield brewery drawings; these following drawings
were created by the landscape architects Eachus Associates for the clients Simon Developments &
Wimpey Homes NW apartment conversation. These drawings have been a great help towards
identifying and replicating the building into a 3D model.

3D scans data; The University provided the
scan data already divided to their individual blocks. The scans can then be
merged as a whole site and can also be imported into Revit for modelling.
Revit Model; The Revit model was modelled based on the
recent building state developed by Landscape Architects Eachus Associates for the clients Simon Developments &
Wimpey Homes NW apartment conversation. The model equals to the incomplete site
structure, therefore the Revit model is on the process of structure redevelopment
back to the its first functionality as a brewery.
Tasks;
the building modelling has been divided to each student ….. I have been given
the task to model the B Block of the model
Challenges
occurred during modelling; as a method of reconstructing the current building
structure back to its glorious days as a brewery, aligning the Revit model to
the PDF drawing files provided by Landscape Architects Eachus Associates. It
had proven to be
